| Description : | Mattia Coletti plays post-rock with capable bands like Sedia, who could play post-rock on the level of Zu, with Polvere, Christa Pfagen, 61 Winter's Hat, or solo. Most of which is worthless and boring free improvisation like Eugene Chadbourne or Derek Baily but without the intellectual vigor of either. The Land pushes beyond Coletti's early soft steps. 'Pitagora' uses Roy Montgomery's meditative guitar percussion with soft menacing electronics. 'Windglass' takes the folk of 'The Land' into the post-rock of Roy Montgomery's meditation suites, whereas 'Ghost West' builds on Coletti acoustic guitar with a buzzing violin and additional ambient guitars. 'Tape and Crackle' and 'A Time Full of Boxes' take 'Ghost West' a step further near a post-rock nirvana. 'Red Eye' falls prey to the monotonous free folk of his past while 'Greta' and 'The Land' are pedestrian guitar instrumentals at best. Coletti has mostly put behind the loose and haphazard aleatory of the past for a deeper search into the mountainous areas of post-rock instrumentals that can be as soothing as they are informative as Roy Montgomery once proved without uttering a word. | |
