| Description : | Claire and Etienne met in 2005 in the public park in Nantes: they were both feeding the goats bread and they immediately got on! Claire was a singer with the choir of the ONPL, the philarmonic orchestra, while Etienne played a nervous and deranged music. In 2008, strolling along, they decided to play together and created 'Sieur et Dame'. Six months later, a first record was born : 'Terrorifié', that they produced by themselves with the help of Meriadeg Orgebin for the recording and Boris Jakibek for the making of the record. A series of concerts followed in unlikely places – cellar, beach, ring, pavements and betting shops… Quite naturally, in 2011, they recorded a second album signed by Kythibong : 'Perversion Discrète'. 'In a vast and peaceful garden of Eden, the calm is suddenly disturbed by a host of unnatural beings, all dedicated to vice and fornication. It is in the very heart of this tension between pious harmony and pagan outbreak that Sieur et Dame invite you. On the way, you will meet a lot of these little treasures that make their universe a patchwork, sometimes solemn, sometimes grotesque, in the shape of a psychoanalytical ghost train riding through medieval times of fantasms and frustrations.(...) For if there is anything that Sieur et Dame lay claim to, it is the full visibility of our shameful feelings, the delivery of the infirm monster , of the magnificent loser that lies within each one of u... ' 'In Sieur et Dame, the form is dramatised ; the female singer is like a comforting North bringing emphasis and punctuation, height and light to the arabesque lines of the male singer, swirling, jumping, unsettling, and finally fainting away. Images are conjured up : the paradoxical harmony between the beauty and the beast gives shape to this impulse groping for the bridge between the dark forces and a radiant unfurling. These images are the psychic anatomy that we are made of (...) Sieur et Dame is neither rock nor opera, nor metal, nor folk, nor baroque music… they are the music of a searching soul that juggles styles to reach its own expression, kneaded by powerful emotions. A music with a character of its own, raw, even brutal, like life and death.' | |
