DESCRIPTION |
| | BUMP & GRIND Abstract theme variations Label : Quatermass Year : 2000 Format : CD Style : Electro Availability : Out of stock
| | | | Description : | Certainly one of the more succinct album titles in recent memory, ABSTRACT THEME VARIATIONS shows that the curiously monikered Bump & Grind are quite adroit at playing fast and loose with many of electronica's alternative genres. Eclecticism is the key here, as there's clunky hip-hop ('Hip and Scratches'), sci-fi dubscapes ('Bad Night, Last Dream,' replete with Day the Earth Stood Still theremin sample), tips of the hat to good old fashioned electro ('2099 A.Disco,' 'Tibet') and all manners of sonic strangeness (the vituperative beatbox poetics of 'Shortcut Latino Fevered'). Inventive to the max, Bump & Grind know how to make mincemeat of dance music, mashing and chewing the essence of rhythmic art to pulp and spitting it out in some newly rearranged, dynamic form. ABSTRACT THEME VARIATIONS is one of the more oddly compelling slices of electronica you're likely to hear from 2000.
