| Description : | Janel & Anthony (Janel Leppin on cello, electronics etc. and Anthony Pirog on guitar, electronics, etc. ) are a Washington D.C. based duo whose elegant experimental music has been featured at huge theaters and intimate clubs and on NPR and the BBC. Anthony's background is jazz and rock; in 2011 he released an album with ex-Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin in their collaborative group Skysaw. Janel is a classically trained cellist who has studied and performed Hindustani and Persian classic music. She toured with Kyp Malone of T.V. on the Radio in his group Rain Machine. They self-released their debut album and have sold nearly 2,000 copies at the many shows they've played since. After exhilarating and exhausting years on the move-touring, collaborating and recording-the pair present second album, Where is Home. This duo alternately charm and challenge, with music that draws from classical, experimental, jazz, rock and electronic traditions but that ultimately is simply theirs. | |
