Description
Uz Jsme Doma (in English, 'Now I Get It') is one of the world's least categorizable bands. When the group came together in the small border town of Teplice in Czechoslovakia in 1985, rock was freedom and freedom was illegal. Via Western radio and smuggled tapes, however, the band came into contact with punk rock (favorites such as the Sex Pistols and the Damned) and more avant-garde bands (such as the Residents and Pere Ubu). Coupled with the folk music of their native land, the result is a complete disregard for audience expectations, with songs characterized by shifting tempos and
rhythms, precise ensemble playing, wild Slavic melodies, and passionate, singing.
Since 1990 and freedom from Communist rule, they have been making up for lost time. Caves is their 9th album and they have toured the US a remarkable 16 times!

Derrière ce nom, Uz jsme doma, totalement imprononçable (pour nous francophones) se cache un projet un peu foutraque et ubuesque originaire de Teplice (Tchéquie). Le groupe fondé en 1985 dans ce qui s’appelait encore la Tchécoslovaquie sort avec Caves, son neuvième album.
Totalement atypique comme bon nombre de groupes que la Tchécoslovaquie a vu naître dans les années 80, mélangeant le punk au rock progressif pour évoluer vers une actuelle fusion cinglante de ska, de punk et toujours de rock progressif…
Un inclassable et étonnant voyage plein de vivacité de fougue, mais surtout d’une vitalité surprenante que l’on croirait surgie d’une improvisation totale et débridée alors que chaque morceau est bien construit, pensé, réfléchi…
En somme, Uz jsme doma, est totalement actuel, mais ils sont restés comme beaucoup de groupes de cette époque, radicalement originaux mais surtout viscéralement indéfinissable !
