DESCRIPTION |
| | V/A Offonoff / Jazkamer Label : Gaffer Records Year : 2009 Format : 10in Style : Jazz / Experimental Availability : Out of stock
| | | | Description : | 3rd split 10in of the series. Nervous and noisy free music on both sides by those 6 improv Gods.
The third release in Gaffer's 10in split series features Nordic improv/noise giants Offonoff (Paal Nilssen-Love, Massimo Pupillo and Terrie Ex) facing off with Jazkamer (Lasse Marhaug and John Hegre). Here the organic, very much manmade racket of Offonoff writhes around mercilessly, with drums, bass and guitar sounding less like drums, bass and guitar than perhaps ever before - it's a vicious, splattered din played by musicians with no short supply of ability between them, yet here their music is so severely skronked that the end result is disfigured into the extremities of musical slapstick. When Jazkamer fire up, this agile, disjointed pile-up becomes a deluge of feedback, electronic noise and ferocious slabs of modulating static. It's incredibly vital sounding stuff, but the brazen extremity of it all is bound to make you chortle now and then.
