| Description : | Chapter IV: Before the Murmur of Silence continues in the continuity of what the band does best, in this case improvised music. But we should not reduce its qualities to that simply. In this album, the appearances of the musicians, more numerous, are more and more mastered with a jazz and progressive coloring à la Frank Zappa. Where the three previous albums rather looked towards a certain experimental research, Chapter IV: Before the Murmur of Silence is structured in a more conventional way, not simpler but better brought. The timbres, the nuances, the flights, the rhythms, the harmonies: everything spreads in space with such density and such dynamics, that it is magical. Seven musicians evolving in the shadows as if a very weak light could guide them by instinct. Some passages are scathing, others more metaphorical. The osmosis seems perfect, natural. Mariusz Sobański is an ambitious musician, a convict of effort and accomplishment in music, leading his work and his collective to heights of exploration. The final piece, like a symphonic poem, literally captivates. | |
