| Description : | Benoît Lizen was born in 1985 in eastern Wallonia. Aged 13, he develops a taste for guitar-playing and becomes, ever since, a self-taught man. At 25, thanks to his visual-artist friends from Sauvage Sauvage, he meets with Jarby Mc Coy, whom he decides to collaborate with for his first long-play. In a musical universe tinged with back-to-roots blues and bric-a-brac folk, he crafts his music on a guitar, a banjo or a lap-steel. His mesmerizing and fragile voice transports us to a parallel world in which the meaning of words escapes us, and so, due to his imaginary eerie language, i.e. Galionka. After a one-year wait and several much-applauded performances at the Botanique (Nuits du Bota, support acts for Valérie June and Midlake – Cirque royal, support act for Volcano Choir), The Ancienne Belgique (AB rue des pierres), The Maison des Musiques (festival 'Comme à la maison'), les Chiroux (support act for The Feather) among many others, Benoît releases, at last, his first album, 'Naomka'. Released at the Botanique for an Honest House Label Night in front of an audience left breathless, this debut contains 9 treasures that delve into blues, folk as well as Americana. | |
