| DESCRIPTION |
| | STEPHEN VITIELLO Listening to Donald Judd Label : Sub Rosa Year : 2007 Format : CD Style : Experimental Availability : Out of stock
| | | | | Description : | Don't let the concept of this album put you off - although there's a million shaky thoughts which sprung to mind when I read that the record had been made from 'recordings of sculpture' it actually sounds rather good indeed. Basically this is a series of engrossing, deep field recordings, but it has been made from placing contact mics on the sculptural works of Donald Judd, and hence the concept. It's art music of course, but I can't help but fall into the world of Vitello when I listen to the record, like all good field recordings these pieces are detailed, textural and hold your attention from beginning to end. It's not going to win over the non believers amongst you I'm sure, but fans of Chris Watson et-al will no doubt get a kick out of hearing what a sculpture sounds like. Fresh air never sounded so alluring...
