DESCRIPTION |
| | V/A This Moment in Black History / Fatal Flying Guillo Label : GSL Records Format : 12in Style : Punk / Rock Availability : Out of stock
| | | | Description : | Two of the U.S.'s most reliably shambolic underground bands... THIS MOMENT IN BLACK HISTORY are a quartet from Cleveland, OH consisting of current and/or former members of THE BASSHOLES, CHARGERS STREET GANG, and NEON KING KONG. They've been plying their wares for about 2 years, touring the U.S. and making believers of 'the kids'. Version City Records, who released the band's debut single and album, describes them as '...like the DIRTBOMBS trying to cover the STRANGLERS...' and that's not a bad assessment. TMIBH contributes three new songs to the EP. On the flipside is Houston's THE FATAL FLYING GUILLOTEENS. The 'GUILLOTEENS have played a sinister game of slap and tickle, culminating in a handful of 7's and two full-length albums (on Estrus Records). Often misdiagnosed at the hands of reviewers and listeners alike, the references are never the same. Compared to everything from PERE UBU to GANG OF FOUR to THE STOOGES, the otherwise straight line has been blurred. With floor show swagger and fire on the teeth, THE FATAL FLYING GUILLOTEENS have abandoned the verse-chorus-verse devices of 'once was' and have created the upright working model of 'what will be'. Here they contribute 4 new tracks.
