| Description : | Born in 2003 as NIKOLA EKLA's solo venture, LEM has evolved into a bona fide supergroup of the Francophone Belgian alt-scene. For the past 17 years, EKLA (ex-LES BROCHETTES, MING) has been flanked by CHA! (ex-LADY FUCKED UP, SCRABOUTCHA, REFURINN KITSUNE) and WILF PLUM (ex-DOG FACED HERMANS, ORCHESTRE TOUT PUISSANT MARCEL DUCHAMPS, TWO PIN DIN). Make no mistake: this is a superhero trio with unparalleled underground pedigree.
In 2026, their sonic recipe remains as razor-sharp and effective as it was in 2009. It's a deceptively simple blend of post-punk synths and dub-heavy basslines, driven by theatrical French vocals. Their lyrics offer a cinematic brand of dark poetry dripping with caustic metaphors—a vibe EKLA himself perfectly describes as 'simultaneously desperate and joyful.' Think of them as the literate heirs to Belgium's highly influential POLYPHONIC SIZE, or spiritual cousins to early '80s pioneers like SOFT CELL. LEM chronicles our unfolding social apocalypse with deceptively naive, highly acidic melodies. They capture urban ennui, everyday tragedies, and the little wars we fight against ourselves, setting them to beats that are fundamentally venomous yet undeniably danceable. Now, the trio returns with their fourth album, Le Jour Viendra. Recorded and produced by NIKOLA EKLA at his Studio Cube, the record is firmly rooted in our chaotic present. It is the ultimate apocalyptic groove—the perfect, defiant soundtrack to accompany the dismantling of social rights and the looming shadow of World War III. | |
