| Description : | Parts Of The Entirety is the energetic debut release from an ensemble who have emerged out of the exciting and energized modern Polish jazz scene; a scene whose history spans periods of both political repression and support. Led by guitarist/composer Grzegorz (Greg) Lesiak, Tatvamasi was formed in 2011 and is a quartet that also features tenor sax, bass and drums. Their jazz is decidedly modern, electric and wide-ranging in its musical vision, incorporating elements of rock, folk, avant-garde and psychedelic music into their sound. Starting his musical life in the folk world and performing in a very popular, rising folk band, Greg was in a horrific auto accident in 2003 that took his then musical partner's life and injured him badly, Greg took nearly a decade off for his physical recovery and musical rebirth. Tatvamasi is that rebirth. Recorded completely live in the studio in February, 2013, Greg comments that, 'Parts/entireties, entireties/parts. Every experiment and every effort leads to something. Everything is important. This is the idea of our music. We play ourselves.' | |
