'Hundred Sights of Koenji' is the first release of Koenjihyakkei. Originally released in 1994, 'Hundred Sights of Koenji' includes the full RUINS line-up of Yoshida Tatsuya and Masuda Ryuichi, with Kubota Aki and Kuwahara Shigekazu for a futuristic journey forward to those hallowed fields of yore. KOENJIHYAKKEI is Area and ELP at their most excessive; Deus Ex Machina with tempo changes multiplied by 100; and Magma at their orff-ian choral, fusion jazz, overcharged gospel peak. Here begins a new chapter in the storied Zeuhl scene, where foreign tongues, interplanetary wars and inhuman technique rule the roost.

Amateurs d’Opera-Rock et de Rock Progressif déjanté, Hundred Sights Of Koenji est fait pour vous. Rejeton de MAGMA et cousin bâtard de FANTOMAS, KOENJIHYAKKEI a le don de m’énerver. C’est déstructuré, grandiloquent et théâtralisé à l’extrême.



Hundred Sights Of Koenji est digne des OVNIs de Skin Graft et les fidèles du label ne seront pas dépaysés par cet album. Je l’avoue sans honte, je n’aime pas ce style, cette exubérance dramatisée. Mais je peux comprendre qu’on s’arrête sur le concept et qu’on apprécie la facette décalée, d’autant que KOENJIHYAKKEI ne fait pas du rock d’opérette. C’est une question de goûts et de couleurs, … de sensibilités.
