| Description : | Two parts Italian, one part Canadian: Quasiviri are a trio that formed in 2006 in Milan, Italy, comprised of Chet Martino (Ronin , Pin Pin Sugar ) on eight string bass, Roberto Rizzo (R.U.N.I. ) on a micro korg synth and André Arraiz-Rivas (Mondongo , Satan Is My Brother ) on drums. Their music uses a mixture of math-metal and robotic calypsokraut combined with anthemic vocals. After the release of their debut album, The Mutant Affair, followed by the Freak of Nature EP , they present us with Super Human , their third release as well as third part of a trilogy dedicated to humankind and self discovery that acts like a musical novel, a Divine Comedy gone wrong, beginning with paradise, passing through hell, before finally ending up in purgatory. In the words of André, the band's lyricist, 'Super Human is an ode to the human condition. It also incites fellow humans to recognize this condition in the hopes that this awareness will be bring a greater sense of peace and fulfilment. Songs like No One to Blame, Sweet Deconstruction and Smudge Life celebrate the contradictory nature of our existence, where as The Perennial Pose, Thoughts Vs Feelings, and Sound Is Now! give a sense of revelation, of unmasking, and of surrender. Ultimately, it is the idea of ourselves, our Super Human act, that makes us who we are.' On their latest recording, Quasiviri renew their insanely original polyhedral formula, sounding a little bit like Devo playing prog with the sonic mass of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum , for a truly solid and cohesive outing. Nicola Ratti makes an appearance (who played with Chet in the bands Ronin and Pin Pin Sugar , today a leading name in the international electronic scene) on guitar in Seasons of Love. It was recorded and mixed by Roberto Rizzo, Fabio Intraina and Mauro Maccarini atTrai Studio and mastered by Giovanni Versari at La Maestà. | |
